BROWN WRAPPING PAPER WORKS

The process here is fast, physical and very noisy. I grab one end of a 2 foot wide roll of brown wrapping paper and crumple. Within a few minutes I’m wrestling with a giant anaconda of paper. Within 5 hours my hands, arms and shoulders are so tired they barely function. This work deals with lightness of being (mass without weight) and it is playful. It evolved out of the soft wrapped works, and happened when I needed to stop grieving and have some fun. All the symbolism of umbilicalis/thread of life is implicit in this work.
